Some say photography is the story we all fail to put into the words.
We bring you a photo round-up of some of the most picturesque shots by our Canon EOS World photographers in 2018, and hope they fuel and inspire your passion for photography.
The Solitary Wanaka Tree
“The iconic solitary tree at Lake Wanaka. A picture of inanimate stoical quality that’s awe-inspiring. There are many lone trees the world over but none quite as special and characterful as this one. I hope this amazing tree survives the onslaught of attention from being famous, so may future generations relish this landmark. This picture (in black and white) also received an endorsement from National Geographic and also made it to the “Daily Dozen.”

Racing in the Sand
Singapore MX Beach Race 2018 at Sentosa Siloso Beach
“Motorsport photography, especially Motocross events are pretty common in Malaysia. However, in Singapore, such Motocross events on the beach sand are unique. This photo was taken at the MX Beach Race at Siloso Beach. Last year, many motorcycles crashed out during the competition as the ground was filled with very fine and loose sand. This type of sand condition made it very challenging for many local off-road riders to control their motorcycles as they were not used to it.
What made this shot meaningful to me was the presence of two international invited riders, Joey Crown and Alex Ray, who took every corner of the track with ease. The racing tracks were like their playground. As they leaned low on sharp corners and accelerated to resume a stable position, the rear tyre spun fast, shooting the sand upward. In that moment, I was able to capture this action-packed shot.
I personally opted to carry one lens on me for this event as it would push me to be more creative and work with what I’d got.”

Doi Inthanon National Park
“In January and February 2018, my friends, Peps and Tiffany from the Epiphany Duplet, and Valentino, visited Chiang Mai, Thailand. One of the destinations that we visited was Doi Inthanon National Park.
Along with the local nature guide and local tour agency guides from Chiang Mai Local Tours, we embarked on Kaew Mae Pan Nature Trail. At an altitude of 2,200m above sea level, it wasn’t a walk in the park as we trekked through the forest before reaching the ridge line, where we were mesmerised by the vast and gorgeous landscape of Doi Inthanon National Park and neighbouring regions, more so for me since I do travel photography. Along the trail, I caught my travel friends enjoying the beautiful scenery. I captured this moment of tranquility on my Canon EOS 6D Mark II DSLR camera.”

“A shot for posterity, this is the final time the fire dragon makes an appearance as the leader retires this year – & what better way to retire than with a blast. The fire and crowd give a sense of action in this shot. The contrast of light and shadow plays out very well in this shot.”
