In conjunction with the 24th Canon Lion City Cup, Canon selected 10 budding youth photographers from a nation-wide search to cover the prestigious international youth football tournament. These talents were mentored by veteran photographer and former photojournalist; Mr Ray Chua and given exclusive passes to get up close to the match action.
After every match from 23 June to 1 July, their photos were submitted on EOS World for voting and judging by Ray Chua to win the Canon Youth Photographer 2012 Awards. After a-month long of intense workshops and practice sessions at soccer clinics and Canon Lion City Cup matches, Jeremy Chan from Nanyang Techonogical University and Kelvin Lee from National University of Singapore emerged as the top 2 winners of the Canon Youth Photographer Program and were awarded with Canon products worth $3,000 and $2,000 respectively. 3 merit award winners; Rachel Tan from Singapore Management University, Lee Jian Wei and Shawn Lee from Singapore Polytechnic also bagged a Canon IXUS 115HS camera each for their outstanding attitude and effort throughout the program.
